Why steamcapsule.com exists?

You have a great idea, made your plan and started development. Let's say everything went well and you actually finished your game this time (congratulations!). Eventually, you'll find yourself in a situation where people have to click on things you made. It could be a wishlist button, a link in a reddit post or it could be an image on Steam aka a capsule. Assuming you don't have a marketing department, the task of convincing people to click on these things is on you. That's why it's crucial to know what a good Steam capsule looks like - one that will set your game apart from thousands of competitors on Steam. This website was created for exactly this reason.
How do I choose which capsules to feature?
I pick capsules based on visual impact, clarity, and marketability - basically, what makes a game stand out on Steam. Some key things I look at:
  • - Strong composition that works even at small sizes,
  • - Good use of color and contrast to grab attention,
  • - Clear focal points - you should instantly know what the game is about,
  • - Readable typography that doesn't get lost in the artwork.

Some capsules are amazing examples, while others are featured to discuss improvements. Either way, the goal is to learn from them.

Are all capsules on the site "good" examples?
Not necessarily! Some capsules are featured to analyze what works while others highlight areas for improvement. The goal is to learn from both successes and missteps.
Can I suggest a capsule?
Absolutely! If you've seen a great capsule let me know here.
Can artists claim their capsule art?
Yes! If you're the artist behind a featured capsule, you can claim credit by clicking the "Claim Artwork" button in the capsule details modal. Once verified, your name will be added to the artwork credits.
